How you can become a certified hair loss practitioner
To become a Trichologist, you first need to become a licensed Cosmetologist or Barber. This is a prerequisite to sign up for the Trichology Certification program with us at the AAHSD. Once you complete the program and receive your Certification, you’ll be able to start a hair loss practice or expand your existing one.

Skills you need to become a Certified Trichologist

As a Certified Trichologist you will use all of your knowledge and your extensive skills to discover the underlying cause responsible for hair thinning and/or hair loss, flaky scalp, damaged follicles, etc. You’ll treat your clients holistically, as a whole, and this requires a complex skillset. You’ll need to learn to:
- conduct in-depth consultations to reveal important information that could lead you to the real culprit behind you client’s issues;
- recommend medical tests and interpret results;
- recommend and perform effective hair loss treatments;
- design at-home care regimens;
- motivate your clients to take control over their scalp health.

This is an intensive, 5-day course that serves as an introduction to trichology. It is designed for licensed beauty professionals who are interested in learning more about alopecia and other scalp maladies.
This program will turn you into a ‘First responder’ to hair loss: you’ll be able to analyze your clients’ scalp by using a microscope, provide them with knowledgeable advice and even conduct certain therapies that can promote hair growth. If you’re interested in getting Certified, this course will ensure that you have a good foundation so that you can follow along the challenging curriculum.
The 90-Day FastTrack To Trichology
This intensive online training is intended for Certified Trichologists who are looking for a career boost. If you’ve received your Certification in hair loss but are struggling to achieve business results you were hoping for, this program will show you our proprietary strategies that will help you boost your career to a new level.
At the end of the program you’ll become a Holistic Health Practitioner (HHP) of Trichology with the American Academy of Hair and Scalp Diseases (AAHSD) and American Association of Drugless Practitioners (AADP).
