What causes a blocked drain ?
External drains can be clogged by leaves, damaged by tree roots and many other factors which can in some cases lead to broken pipes. Internal drains such as you find in kitchens, toilets and bathrooms, are often blocked by a build up of hair, wipes, tissues, paper towels, disposable nappies, limescale & soap scum.
Often we find it’s simply a build-up of “gunge” that has entered the drain such as grease, silt, leaves, which causes the issue and this is just part of regular wear and tear. It can also be due to hard to flush items such as sanitary products or paper towels, causing pipes to clog and obstruct the water flow. In other cases it might be due a structural defect or breakage caused by subsidence, tree roots or pipe corrosion. This is where CCTV survey equipment is particularly useful. Whatever the nature of the problem, from pipe damage to hair blockages and everything in-between, we have the tools and experience to fix it.
There are preventative measures you can take to stop a drainage system becoming blocked, but once it’s happened it can often be difficult to fix yourself. This is why it’s always best to book an expert drainage company – like us ! We always strive to have your drains fixed as soon as possible and with a minimum of fuss and disturbance.
How do you repair my blocked drain ?
To clear your drain we will typically use high-pressure water jetting as it’s usually the most effective treatment method available. We also use a CCTV drain survey as the cameras allow our engineers to pinpoint the exact location of the blockage or leak which helps us to diagnose the problem without causing any further damage to the pipes.
We use the most advanced technology available, to save you both time and money that may be wasted on unnecessary drain replacements. We are also ethical, so if our drain engineers believe that your system is unfixable then we will provide you with the best, honest, and impartial advice.
