Spalding University's meditation garden was established to honor Thomas Merton's and The Dalai Lama's encounter, which inspired many individuals about the value of interfaith community partnerships. It is a gathering place for individuals of all faiths and backgrounds to learn, develop, and foster interfaith community partnerships. Furthermore, the Stupa is the classic form of Buddhist architecture, and it is the ideal expression of Buddhist culture and heritage in the center of downtown Louisville, a dynamic and varied city.
