Precipitated withdrawal: what is it? The patient will not be able to receive Suboxone if they also take other opioids.
Suboxone can be compared to a powerful magnet. It has a powerful affinity for the opioid receptor. One can experience precipitated withdrawal if Suboxone is started too soon without giving the body time to eliminate the opioids. This occurs as a result of Suboxone's powerful binding to the opioid receptor, which dissociates the opioid (oxycodone or dilaudid) from the receptor. The patient might become extremely ill and need additional drugs to treat withdrawal symptoms. Suboxone should be introduced correctly after a minimum of 24 to 48 hours, and the patient should be experiencing moderate to severe withdrawal.
