The MacArthur Memorial in Brisbane is committed to conveying the tales of the Allies battle in the South-West Pacific Area (SWPA), US General Douglas MacArthur's position as Supreme Commander of Allied troops in the SWPA, and the battle's effect on Brisbane and its inhabitants. The MacArthur Museum - Brisbane is located at 201 Edward Street, Brisbane, and is associated with the historical and cultural MacArthur Chambers building. This structure housed the bulk of the main formations' headquarters inside SWPA. General Sir Thomas Blamey was in charge of Allied Land Command in St Lucia, a position he retained until April 1944 since the preponderance of field military members in the SWPA were Australian.
